The Brooklyn Technical High School library has been awarded several generous grants. We're thrilled to excited to see the library enhanced through the addition of a Makerspace, where students can build, learn, create and play.
The Library Makerspace has a rotating schedule of hands-on activities. Through December, students can make paper circuit cards using copper tape, batteries and LED lights. Students can also crochet and knit (or learn how!). In January, we will have cardboard sculptures and embroidery. Student library monitors work at the Makerspace each period, helping to teach skills (upon request), troubleshoot and keep materials organized. They have become adept at completing circuits, identifying the positive charge on a LED or battery, untangling yarn and picking up dropped stitches! Thank you to the Alumni Foundation, Spark Fun Electronics and the many parents and friends who donated our Makerspace supplies through Donors Choose and other grants.
