As we wrap up the school year, we have a lot of people to thank. This has been a great year at the library and it could not have been possible without the help of many others.

  • Our 100+ student monitors helped run our library each day. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, especially those who dutifully shelved each day (not an easy job!) and others who helped with weeding and crossing out books in our collection. (As an aside, if you are interested in joining our team as a library monitor, see us at the start of the fall semester. You  need to have a period each day of the 10 day cycle that you are able to be in the library. We would love to have you join our team and will offer a short orientation in the fall).
  • Our (honorary library) teachers. Mr. Marr, Mr. Schott and Mr. Wasserstein, who all stepped in to ensure that we could admit as many students as possible to the library. Thank you for joining our team and helping the library run smoothly!
  • Mr. Fisher and the students in the woodshop, for building and staining more than 15 wooden shelves to allow us to reshift our collection and still use our beautiful walnut shelving. This was a big request and an urgent one, and we will appreciate and use these for years to come!
  • The Brooklyn Tech administration. Thank you for supporting the library program and allowing us to start new projects and collaborations, make changes to the collection and physical layout, bring in some new furniture, redesign the website, etc. We hope to continue to develop our library program and make it the community center of Brooklyn Tech.
  • Our patrons. Thank you for visiting, for using this space to study, to read, to meet with friends, to rest and recharge. Students read, rest, borrow textbooks or chess, work on our computers, print school documents, borrow our chess boards, browse our magazines or graphic novels, ask for book recommendations, color in our Peace Corner or chill out in our beanbag chairs. The library serves the entire school community and aims to help students in different ways. We hope that you have found a place here.

We look forward to a wonderful new year with you in September and wish the best of luck to our graduating seniors!

Ms. Drusin and Ms. Laudi
