APPLICATION (SPRING 2020) NOW Closed... Speak to a librarian if you are still interested.
Work as a Library Monitor
Library monitors are crucial in running such a large collection, which serves more than a thousand students each day. If you are interested in becoming a library monitor, speak to one of the librarians. We generally select monitors at the start of the semester (day 1 or 2). Monitors will receive CLUB credit based on their attendance and helpfulness (usually about 3-4 credits).
While we would like to hire everyone, in order to work as a monitor, you MUST be free the same period ALL 10 DAYS of the rotation cycle (it gets too complicated otherwise). You must also be able to stay ALL period.
All student library monitors:
While we would like to hire everyone, in order to work as a monitor, you MUST be free the same period ALL 10 DAYS of the rotation cycle (it gets too complicated otherwise). You must also be able to stay ALL period.
All student library monitors:
- Must arrive on time to the library and be able to stay for the entire period
- Should be willing to spend at least 20 minutes of the period working on library-related tasks. Occasionally, jobs will take more or less time.
- Should have a basic understanding of the layout of the library and how to use the catalog...or ask for a quick training!
- Should be able to be helpful and respectful to the students using the library
- Should work QUIETLY at their task
- May be asked to assist with the occasional “odd jobs”
- Should be able to follow the library guidelines for ALL students, and serve as role-models for others. This means:
- Please eat ELSEWHERE
- Please only drink WATER in the library (sugary drinks make sticky messes when they spill)
- Please speak in a VERY QUIET VOICE
- Please don’t wear a hat
- Please keep headphones quiet enough that you can hear if someone needs your help or attention
